Antique Paragon S. Fox & Co. Silk, Cane, Sterling Silver Hallmarked Tip Umbrella
The Fox Paragon umbrellas are very collectible and considered the Rolls Royce of umbrellas. The curved handle is made of cane with a sterling silver tip. An anchor town mark for Birmingham England. The frame is metal with one inside rib that is marked Paragon S. Overall frame and structure of this umbrella is very good with n o rust or damage to the metal frame found. The canopy is a black silk with a label inside J. The silk cloth is fully intact , but very delicate with extreme care needed when opening the umbrella. It has a couple pin holes and some minor edge tears. It does have the original button, but missing the wrap closure. Will need to reattach (sew) the canopy to the tip of some of the ribs. If one should desire, a stronger canopy can be fully replaced by a specialist. When I acquired the umbrella it had been stowed away in a corner for years with the original sleeve that protected it.
