ANTIQUE Victorian era PARASOL umbrella BENT WOOD HANDLE cotton ALENCON LACE ecru
Original Victorian era parasol, umbrella. Presented here is a fabulous Victorian era parasol.
This is made with a curved bent wood handle, it is burled wood, minor finish wear where it opens and closes. Securely opens and closes with a metal latch, brass fitting, the stays are all good. Forms a 27" canopy when open (27" across the inside stay to stay), it is 34 long overall. The canopy is a sturdy 100% fine cotton, it is ecru color, natural weave, polished texture. It is edged with 4 1/2 wide lace. This is a woven Alencon lace with scalloped edge, it has raised re-embroidered details. The canopy and lace are very sturdy, with no spits, there are some discolorations on the canopy and a hole at the very tip only, you can see the spring inside (see the last photo). The inside lining is the same material, it has no damage, no stains, no tears. The parasol appears to be all hand sewn. Very rare to find an original canopy that is not spit.
