NICE VICTORIAN PERIOD WOOD UMBRELLA HANDLE, ORNATE ROLLED GOLD CAP, c. 1880-1900
This listing is for a beautiful Victorian Period Wooden umbrella or parasol handle with rolled gold decorative cap, c. This unique umbrella handle is decorated with a beautiful dark brown wooden handle with black internal stripes running lengthwise throughout the wood.The wooden end has no hole and has not been drilled - would have been fitted with another gold band. The "cap" has an intricately engraved design on rolled gold (no monogram). There is minor wear to the gold on the end of the handle and bottom (see photos). No other problems or flaws other than minor wear commensurate with age.
Measures 5 1/2" long with wooden end being 1/2" in diameter, gold end is 5/8 in diameter. These unusual decorative umbrella handles are often used today as handles for magnifying glasses.
